With the recent announcement of the suspension of SNAP (Food Stamps) in the State of Maine beginning on November 1st, local food pantries are going to be hit hard, and the need for non-perishable items couldn't be greater.

To that extent, the branches of First National Bank will be collecting non-perishable food items throughout the month of November.

This is an especially difficult time with Mainers now needing to pay for oil to heat their homes, and with the holidays right around the corner.

I have been amazed at Mainer's generosity to help other Mainers in need in the 40 years that I have lived in this great State  This generosity is going to be put to the test this fall and winter unlike any other time in recent memory.

Suggested items to be donated include

  • Canned meats/fish
  • Chili
  • Soup
  • Skillet Meals
  • Cereal
  • Canned Vegetables and Fruit.

Firs National Bank has branches in Bangor, Bar Harbor, Belfast, Blue Hill, Boothbay Harbor, Brewer, Calais, Camden, Damariscotta, Eastport, Ellsworth, Northeast Harbor, Rockland, Rockport, Southwest Harbor, Waldoboro and Wiscasset.
