In just this last week, several folks found fins in places much closer to the shore than they expected.
Fox 22 Bangor reported that on Sunday, folks reported seeing a large shark, larger than the 22' boats in Toothacre Cove, swimming around in the waters off Swans Island.
Some people in one of the vessels were able to bait the shark to leave for more open waters, according to the report.
But then on Tuesday, someone else spotted and captured this video, presumably the same shark in the same water.
The animal seemed to be caught up in some low tidal water, making an effort to head further out to sea when discovered.
Another shark, perhaps the same one, was spotted swimming around Blue Hill Bay Tuesday evening. A woman commented that her son had seen what many speculated was a Basking Shark caught up in some shallow water in the area.
Sadly, only a short time after that video was posted, an update was shared that showed the shark stuck up on the rocks, having perished.
It seems to be the way of the world now, that we will continue to find these big fish closer to shore, than further away.
It's just something we're going to have to get used to.
If that makes you nervous, check this out.
