Christine B. Foundation Aims To Raise $30K In 30 Days To Feed 300 This Summer

The plan is to use this money to help 300 Maine individuals and families dealing with a diagnosis of cancer ensure they have the healthy and nutritious foods they need to boost their ability to fight the disease.
"For many patients, cancer affects every aspect of daily life—including access to nutritious food. Through this campaign, we're asking our communities to come together and help ensure that 300 patients have the nourishment and support they need to continue their fight."

CFB Founder and Executive Director, Matt Dexter, says the June 6th food drive is the first of a month-long campaign to bring the community together for this great cause that is making such a positive impact for those diagnosed with cancer.
"One of the biggest services the Christine B. Foundation provides no-cost medically tailored grocery packages; Produce, fruits, vegetables, and grains, to patients struggling with Cancer."
Dexter says their "prescriptions" of special food kits help cancer patients support their treatments, and the recovery process.

"The campaign highlights the critical role nutrition plays in cancer treatment. Through partnerships with oncology professionals, CBF helps patients navigate treatment-related side effects, chronic health conditions, and dietary challenges that can impact their ability to tolerate treatment and recover."
Dexter says that Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in our state, which is why the organization is so invested in its mission. They meet with patients at the very beginning of their journey with the disease, often the very first appointment, to guide them on how they can face Cancer through nutrition.

"Every year about 10,000 Mainers are diagnosed with Cancer. About 20% of those come from diet, physical inactivity, and nutritional-related behaviors. So what CBF's simple premise is to help treat and prevent Cancer by improving access to and quality of food that people need."
The "30 for 300 Campaign" as it's being called, kicks off this Friday at Hannafords stores in Brewer, Bucksport, Dexter and Machias.
Volunteers will be on-site at each store to collect food and donations from 9 AM to 3 PM. Folks are encouraged to make a donation of food, money and/or even time. The organization is always looking for volunteers.
The campaign will culminate on June 22nd with a dinner to celebrate the impact of the Foundation's work.
