The Boston Red Sox fell to the New York Yankees 8-2 Sunday night. Boston is now 11-10 in July

The Red Sox scored their lone runs on back-to-back solo home runs in the 4th inning.

Rob Refsnyder hit his 5th homer.

That was followed by Connor Wong's 10th homer

Tanner Houck started for the Red Sox and went 6.0 innings and allowed 5 hits and 4 runs. He struck out 2 and walked 4.

Rafael Devers was 2-4 with a triple int eh 4th inning. It was his 450th career extra base hit.

Danny Jansen, playing in his 1st game for the Red Sox since being traded by the Toronto Blue Jays was 2-3. He became the 1st Red Sox to reach base in each of their 1st 3 plate appearances with the team since Eduardo Nunez did so back on July 28, 2017

Prior to the game the Red Sox made a series of roster moves.

  • They added left-handed pitcher James Paxton and catcher  Danny Jansen to the active Major League roster. Paxton will wear number 65. Jansen will wear number 28.
  • Claimed right-handed pitcher Yohan Ramirez off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
  • Designated right-handed pitcher Chase Anderson and catcher Reese McGuire for assignment.

Boston opens a 3-game series at home with the Seattle Mariners on Monday night. The pregame starts at 6:10 p.m. with the 1st pitch at 7:10 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
