The Boston Red Sox routed the Seattle Mariners 14-7 on Monday night, July 29th at Fenway Park, smashing 3 home runs and setting a season-high in doubles as they hit 8 doubles.

Every Red Sox starter with the exception of David Hamilton had at least 1 hit, as Boston had 16 hits.

Masataka Yoshida was 3-5 with a double and his 5th home run of the season, in the 4th inning.

Wilyer Abreu was 2-5 with a double and an epic 12-pitch at-bat in the 4th inning, ultimately resulting in a RBI single.

Dominic Smith was 2-4 with a double and his 6th homer of the season, in the 5th inning.

Romy Gonzalez hit a pinch-hit homer, in the 6th inning, his 2nd of the season and 1st career pinch-hit homer.

Jarren Duran was 2-4 with a pair of doubles.

Connor Wong and Ceddanne Rafaela each had 2 hits.

Meanwhile on the mound Nick Pivetta struck out 10, while allowing 6 hits and 3 runs in 6.2 innings. He walked a batter and is now 5-7. Trey Wingenter allowed 4 runs and 3 hits in 1.1 innings while striking out 1 and walking 2. Bailey Horn closed out the game, pitching the 9th inning allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.

During the game the Toronto Blue Jays traded former Red Sox player Justin Turner to the Mariners.

Boston and Seattle will play game 2 of the 3-game series on Tuesday night. Former Red Sox James Paxton, recently acquired from the Dodgers will make his Red Sox 2024 debut. The pregame starts at 6:10 p.m. with the 1st pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
