Maine State Police Say a Dead Body Was Found in Southwest Harbor
Police are investigating after a woman's body was found in a ditch in Southwest Harbor.
What Do We Know About the Deceased?
It was just after 11:30 Sunday morning when a passerby noticed a female in a ditch near 61 Main Street and called 911. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy.
UPDATE - Officials have identified the victim as Amber Robbins, 35, of Tremont. Her death is being investigated as the result of a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash.
The road was closed while investigators were on the scene. Southwest Harbor Police are being assisted in this investigation by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.

Officials are hoping to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of 61 Main Street in Southwest Harbor between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
