
Red Sox Play Small Ball – Beat Arizona 2-1 on Safety Suicide Squeeze
Catcher Reese McGuire dropped a safety suicide squeeze bunt with 1 out in the 4th inning, scoring Tristan Casas, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 on Saturday, May 27th.
Garrett Whitlock in his return from the injured list allowed 3 hits including a home run. He allowed just 1 run, and struck out 4 without walking a batter, in picking up the win.
Kutter Crawford, Chris Martin, and Kenley Jansen combined to pitch 4.0 innings of hitless relief. They struck out 4 and didn't walk a batter. Jansen picked up his 11th save of the season.
Masataka Yoshida and Jarren Duran each had 2 hits for the Red Sox, who had 6 hits in the game.
Boston and Arizona closeout their 3-game series Sunday afternoon. Tanner Houck is scheduled to start for the Red Sox. The pregame begins at 3:10 p.m. with the 1st pitch at 4:10 p.m. Hear the game Downeast on AM 1370 WDEA and in Aroostook County on 101.9 The Rock.
