High Fire Danger Friday May 22nd
The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Special Weather Statement on Friday, May 22nd warning of a High Fire Danger for Coastal Hancock and Washington Counties including the cities of Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bucksport, Orland, Castine, Eastport, Perry, Machias and Cherryfield.
According to the National Weather Service there will be westerly winds gusting up to 25 miles per hour hour today. Combined with very low relative humidity and dry ground will result in a heightened fire weather threat today across Downeast Maine.
You should check with your local fire department before burning. In conditions like this, normally any burn permits issued are revoked until the danger eases.
