Downeast Maine residents should be expecting big winds on Wednesday, January 10th because of Winter Storm Finn.

Wednesday morning maximum gusts will be 55-60 miles per hour in the Ellsworth area, and 70-75 miles per hour in the Bar Harbor area. Wind gusts just continue to go higher as you head out onto the ocean!

The good news is that wind gusts are expected to decrease rapidly as we head into the afternoon. Gusts will fall to the mid-30 miles per hour in the afternoon.

There is expected to be a storm surge along Seawall in Southwest Harbor this morning. The greatest concern is Wednesday morning until 9:17 a.m. The forecast tide and surge is expected to 14.3 feet, with waves 10-16 feet. Drivers should be careful of rocks on the roadway!

As of 4 a.m. there were 5239 Hancock county residents without power according to Versant.
