Heavy Wet Snow Anticipated for Thursday April 4th Downeast
I learned a couple years ago that Maine has 7 seasons. There's the traditional Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer, but there's also Sprinter (Spring/Winter), Mud and Bug seasons
There's no question, we are in the midst of Sprinter... with a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Wednesday night, April 3rd through Thursday night, April 4th.
As of Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service in Caribou is advising that there is the possibility of Downeast Maine receiving 6-11 inches of heavy, wet, snow.
With the heavy, wet snow and strong winds there is the high probability of power outages as this is the kind of snow that will stick to trees and power lines.
Now's the time to be prepared for Thursday. Make sure your gas tank is full in the event that gas stations are without power for a bit. Wednesday, make sure all your electronic devices are charged. If you do have to go somewhere on Thursday, be sure to call ahead, as there's a strong possibility that businesses, offices and events will be closed or postponed.
Check on your neighbor during the snowstorm and if you can, help those who need assistance with shoveling/snow removal.
