The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Downeast Maine from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29th

Heat index values, which is the actual temperature, when combined with the humidity  are expected to be between 95 and 98 degrees.

Everyone is encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should NEVER be left unattended in vehicles, even with air conditioning running.

If you must be outside, be sure to avoid strenuous activity where possible and be sure to take frequent breaks in the shade and cooler places.

There were numerous reports of Acadia National Park rangers coming to the aid of hikers on Monday, who developed issues with the heat.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Here are the differences between Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke

Both Knowlton Park in Ellsworth and the Glen Mary Wading Pool in Bar Harbor offer great opportunities for families to cool off for free.
