Schools are out, and you would think that children and families would be thrilled. But if you consider that many children and families rely on free and reduced prices breakfast and lunches, you can understand why some aren't as thrilled.

Luckily there's the Maine Hot Lunch Summer program that offers free meals for children, through the United States Department of Agriculture. To see if there's a free meal site near you, click HERE

In Hancock County, these are the sites serving, along with times.

  • Deer Island-Stonington CSD - 249 North Deer Isle Road, July 6 - July 30, (Monday-Friday) Breakfast 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and Lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m
  • Sumner Middle and High School - June 29  - August 7 (Monday-Friday) Breakfast 8 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and Lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Mountain View School - June 29  - August 7 ((Monday-Friday) - Breakfast 8 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and Lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Ella Lewis School - June 29  - August 7 ((Monday-Friday) - Breakfast 8 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and Lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Cave Hill School - June 29  - August 7 ( (Monday-Friday) Breakfast 8 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and Lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
