The Ellsworth Winter Parking Ban went into effect beginning on Monday, November 1st. It's a good idea to know about the ban, especially with snow coming overnight for the 1st time in November

From November 1st through March 31st parking is prohibited overnights on streets in the City of Ellsworth between Midnight and 6 a.m. for periods longer than 30 minutes.

At the same time the ordinance states that no vehicle shall be parked in any public road or city-owned parking lot so as to interfere with or hinder the removal of snow from the street or way or any city-owned parking area by City plowing or loading or hauling.

Any police officer may cause any vehicle so parked to be removed from the street and placed in a suitable parking space off of the street at the owner's expense.

That being said, Deputy Chief Troy Bires assured me last year that the Ellsworth Police Department will do their best to notify the vehicle's owner if the car or truck is parked and needs to be moved so it doesn't interfere with plowing.
