The Ellsworth City Council will hold a special meeting on Friday, January 29th at 8AM to consider appointing Don O'Halloran of Old Town as Interim Police Chief.

According to a release from David Cole, the Ellsworth City Manager

“This is to confirm that I will be seeking Council approval at their January 29th Special Meeting for the appointment of Don O’Halloran of Old Town as Interim Police Chief effective with the departure of Ellsworth’s current Police Chief, Chris Coleman on February 2nd.  Mr. O’Halloran’s credentials are impressive, as he recently retired as Police Chief of Old Town where he served for 26 years. I am very pleased Don is willing to serve as Interim Police Chief for a couple of months as we continue the process of naming a permanent replacement.

If approved by the Ellsworth City Council, O'Halloran will replace Chief Christopher Coleman who submitted his resignation back in 2014. Coleman delayed his resignation until the end of January to assist the City in the search for the new police chief.
