Ellsworth 9-10 Softball Falls 5-4 In Opening Game of State Tourney
The Ellsworth 9-10 All Star Softball Team fell to Medomak 5-4 on Saturday, July 14th in the State Softball Championship in Glenburne and now will have to come through the loser's bracket.
The Ellsworth Team will play Kennebunk-Wells on Sunday, July 15th at 3PM. Kennebunk-Wells lost to Windham Saturday night 2-1. The loser of the Ellsworth-Kennebunk/Wells game will be eliminated with the winner playing Friday, July 20th at 5:30 PM.
In Saturday's game Medomak scored 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning, but Ellsworth came back scoring 3 runs to take a 3-2 lead. Ellsworth added a run in the 3rd inning to lead 4-2, but Medomak scored 1 in the 4th inning and then 2 in the 5th inning to take the lead. Ellsworth had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th inning, but wasn't able to push across the tying or winning run.
Sophia Lynch had 2 singles and Kaylee Bagley had a single for Ellsworth.
Anna Stevens and Lily Bean combined for 17 strikeouts and allowed just 1 hit.
The Ellsworth Team is coached by Josh Stevens assisted by Steve Sullivan and Ron Bean. Team members include Elizabeth Boles, Anna Stevens, Lily Bean, Jayden Sullivan, Sophia Lynch, Natale Jagels, Savannah Edgecomb, Callie Chase, Camryn Clough, Brielle Grindle, Kaylee Bagley, Lily Alley and Sydney Mason.
