
Bucksport High School’s Class of 2025 Honor’s Parts
The Bucksport High School Class of 2025 will be graduating on Friday, June 6th at 6 p.m.
Here are the 2025 Honor's Parts.
Valedictorian, Emily Baxter West, daughter of Anne and Todd West of Orland, will graduate with a GPA of 102.62 over her four years at Bucksport High School. Emily will be attending the University of Maine at Augusta in the fall, where she will be focusing on Veterinary Studies. Because of her academic excellence, Emily was awarded the RIT Junior Book award during her junior year, and in her senior year, Emily earned the Maine Principals Award. This award goes to a student who achieves a minimum 4.0 GPA and excels in citizenship. As an active citizen, Emily serves as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Orland and has interned at Bucksport Veterinary Hospital. Some of Emily’s fondest memories from high school involve her friends whom she will miss dearly after graduation. One of her favorite quotes comes from the movie Talladega Nights: “If you ain’t first, you’re last.” To be first in her class is an incredible accomplishment.
Salutatorian, Natalie Ann Moon Simpson, daughter of Jan and Derek Simpson of Bucksport, will graduate with a GPA of 101.92. Natalie will be attending the University of Maine at Farmington in the fall, where she will be majoring in Actuarial Science. During high school, Natalie participated in various organizations and extracurricular activities, including National Honor Society, student council, volleyball, indoor and outdoor track, and she served as a class officer. Natalie has received the National AP Scholar, National Big Future Rural & First Generation Recognition, and Clarkson Achievement awards. Natalie's fondest high school memories involve attending two Northern Maine Championships in softball (and winning) and two state championships. She will miss her teachers and the strong connections she has made with them. Natalie’s favorite quote is “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll be among the stars.” In academics and athletics, Natalie has landed on the moon.
First Honors Essayist, Ruby Marie Pereira, daughter of Michelle and Joe Pereira of Bucksport, will graduate with a GPA of 101.81. Ruby plans to attend Eastern Maine Community College in the fall, where she will be majoring in Medical Radiography. Over her four years, Ruby has participated in soccer, indoor and outdoor track, and cheer. Ruby has also served as National Honor Society vice president and class treasurer. For awards, she was awarded the College of the Atlantic Book Award in her junior year. Ruby earned the BHS Student of the Month and PVC Conference First and Second Team Track awards during her senior year. Being a captain for the Lady Bucks Varsity Soccer team and her personal and team growth fill Ruby with pride. She will miss her sports, the games and meets, her teammates, and the environment that has helped her flourish. Ruby’s favorite quote is, “Work hard in silence, let success be your noise.” Ruby’s success from her strong work ethic comes in loud and clear.
Second Honors Essayist, Julianna Nichole Ogdamin Atherton, daughter of Mildred and Thomas Atherton from Bucksport, will graduate with a GPA of 101.75. Julianna plans to attend the University of Southern Maine in the fall, where she will major in English. At Bucksport High School, Julianna participated in band, jazz band, dance, and the National Honor Society. Her awards include: the Yale Book award, multiple GPA awards, and excellence in Honors Anatomy and Physiology. Julianna is especially proud of being a member of the NHS and helping people in her community. After graduating, she will miss the spirit week activities and winter carnival. Julianna’s favorite quote is, "Despite everything, it's still you.” Julianna’s fundamental identity and core values will carry her far.
