Alf Anderson was named the new executive director for the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, August 6th in a press release from the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

"We had several strong candidates for the position, but Alf brought an excitement about the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce and our members that was exactly what the search committee and I were looking for," said Bethany Reece, president of Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce. "I am confident that Alf will work for the best interest of our members and bring exciting new ideas to the chamber."

Originally from Connecticut, Anderson graduated from Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts, and spent the next 15 years on Boston's North Shore, working in the academic publishing industry where he oversaw a national events program and managed a sales team with annual revenues surpassing $8 million. In 2013, he continued moving north and settled in Bar Harbor where he has since lived with his wife, Heather.

"Like many people, I fell in love with Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island on my very first visit. And now, I am humbled by the opportunity to serve this region in my new role at the chamber. It has a great foundation with exceptional staff members, including Melanie and Chris Graten, and a strong board of directors," said Anderson. "I look forward to working closely with them, our business members and the community to help deliver a successful future for us all."
