The MDI Adult Education Program had 8 CNA students in their recent class, a class taught by Betsy Corrigan and staff at MDI Hospital. All 8 students passed, with an average score of 87 and received their CNA pins from Anne Patterson from the MDI Adult Education Program and Betsy Corrigan.

There is an extensive intake process for the class that includes background check, reading assessment, and medical forms that Patterson does.  Classes may be held at the high school or at the hospital (conference room) two evenings a week. Labs and Clinicals are held at Birch Bay Village and MDI Hospital. The course is 180 hours. Students must pass a list of skills throughout the class, pass the final class exam AND pass the State Exam. Successful students are placed on the State Registry and can then work as a CNA in the State of Maine.

This was the 4th Class that has graduated in the last 3 years, with 22 students receiving their CNAs

Graduating and receiving their pins were Phelecia Allen-Morris, Sherepha Douglas, Jennifer Elliott, Christopher Harper, Paige Klavsky, Alexis Merchant, Kadia Street and Erwaton (Shannon) Sackaloo.
