Amanda Pollock, the Public Affairs Spokesperson for Acadia National Park joined WDEA's Chris Popper to talk about steps visitors should take when visiting Acadia National Park this summer to insure their safety and to have the best possible experience.

Cadillac Mountain reservations may be made HERE. Many slots are opened on the actual day, so don't despair if there's nothing when you want to make your reservations in advance. Additionally, there are many other sites in Acadia National Park besides Cadillac Mountain where you can enjoy sunrise or sunset.

Amanda offered some hiking tips, such as dressing for the various elevations, as temperatures vary widely from sea level to the top of the Mountain. Don't hike alone, if possible, and always let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return. Make sure you have a charged cellphone with you, in the event of emergency, as 9-1-1 will work throughout the Park. Know your limitations, don't choose a difficult hike if you are a newer hiker.

Also, there have been some recent bear sightings throughout the Park, and Amanda offered some tips when camping to avoid attracting bears.
