21st Annual Carol Dyer Memorial Luminaria Evening August 13

For the past couple of years, I have been honored to serve as emcee of the annual Carol Dyer Memorial Luminaria Evening. This year, this moving event will take place on Saturday, August 13th on the Village Green in Bar Harbor. 2022 is the 21st Annual event.

This year, all the proceeds from the event will be given to the Mount Desert Hospital Oncology Department. Suggested donation of $10 per luminaria. You can preorder your luminary bags HERE or on August 13th starting at about 6 p.m. on the Village Green.

Again this year, we will read the names of all those written on the luminary bags, either in honor of those battling cancer, or in memory of those who fought the battle with cancer.

As a 2-time cancer survivor, this is an event that is especially close to my heart. Every year the event hits closer to home, as I recognize names of those who I have known who have recently lost the fight. 3 names from 2021's event caused me to pause for an extra moment and they were Lani Naihe, Vicky Vendrell and Judie Noonan.

Proceeds from the sale of the luminaria bags in 2021 were given to Island Connections, who provide free transportation to elderly and disabled Island residents to doctor appointments, grocery stores as well as the Meals for Me program.
