The MDI Boy's Basketball Team pulled off one of the biggest upsets of Tourney 2015, as the #12 Trojans beat the #4 Gardiner Tigers 57-53 in the Class B Quarterfinals at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday, February 14th.

Gardiner led 11-9 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Seth McFarland had 4 points, Elijah Fish had a 3-pointer and Jordon Lamb, and Bradley Weston each had 2 points. For MDI Riley Swaonson had 5 points, including a 3-pointer, Gus Reeves and Aaron Snurkowski each had 2 points.

At the end of the 1st Half, MDI led 19-17. Swanson added 5 points including another 3-pointer, Graham Good had 3 points and Reeves had 2 points for MDI. For Gardiner, Brandon Douglas, Lamb and Weston each had 2 points.

At the end of the 3rd Quarter, MDI was up 34-31. Swanson added 7 points, including another 3-pointer, Reeves had 2 points as did Snurkowski, Russell Kropff, and James O'Donnell for MDI. For Gardiner, McFarland had 6 points, Fish had a 3-pointer, Alexander LaPointe had 2 points as did Weston and Lamb had 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter, Kropff had 6 points, Snurkowski had 6 points, Andrew Phelps scored 4 points on back to back baskets, Good, Drew Rich, O'Donnell each had 2 points and Reeves added 1 point for MDI., For Gardiner McFarland had 8 points, Fish 7 points including 1 3-pointer, Weston had 3 points and Douglas and Lamb each added 2 points for the Tigers.

MDI was led by Riley Swanson with 17 points, while Aaron Snurkowski had 10 points and Russell Kropff had 8 points. MDI was 6-11 from the free throw line.

Gardiner was led by Seth McFarland with a game high 18 points, while Elijah Fish had 13 points and Bradley Weston had 9 points. The Tigers were 6-8 from the free throw line

MDI is now 7-13 and will play #1 Medomak Valley on Wednesday, February 18th at 8:35 PM.  That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio. Gardiner ends their season at 14-6.
