Mark Shields, the MDI Head Football Coach, was named Class C East Coach of the Year, Saturday night, November 30th. Shields' MDI Trojans finished the season 6-2, before losing to Waterville in the semi-finals.

Speaking personally, this couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Coach Shields has been so willing with this time, doing coach's shows on WDEA first on Fridays, and now on Mondays as well, for the last 6 years. Know Coach Shields, he will deflect most of the praise, and say he's surrounded by a great group of Assistant Coaches, and players, but this award is truly deserved.

According to Athletic Director Bunky Dow " This is a very well deserved honor. I'm very happy for Mark. The kids love playing for him. He's very well respected by the students, faculty and parents."
