Leila Johnston – Florida State University

Continuing our series of featuring former Ellsworth and Mount Desert Island High School alumni who are playing collegiate sports, we turn to Leila Johnston who is attending Florida State University.

Johnston, a 2015 graduate from MDI, in in her first year at FSU, and will be swimming freestyle for the Seminoles. The practice season started on September 7th, and according to Johnston "The practices and lifting weights have been going well! I've never been this sore and exhausted, but I love it!"

The collegiate swimming season runs September - March, culminating with the NCAA Women's Championships March 17-19 in Atlanta Georgis. The opening meet is the All Florida Invite in Gainsville September 18-20 and then a dual meet with Minnesota on October 3rd at Home.
