Ellsworth Superintendent of Schools Dan Higgins sent out a letter to all parents, staff and students on Tuesday, December 15th notifying them of a positive COVID-19 case at the Elementary-Middle School.

The individual who tested positive was last in the building Monday December 14 and will remain in isolation and quarantine consistent with CDC guidelines. As of 2:00 p.m. 3 staff members and 5 students were identified as close contacts and  staff will be continuing the contact tracing process this afternoon.

Out of an abundance of caution, to permit additional cleaning in the rooms and areas where the infected individual was present, and to permit additional time to finalize the contact tracing process, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 will be a “remote learning day” for all students and staff at Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School. As further contact tracing may result in close contacts being identified at our other schools, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 will also be a “remote learning day” for all students and staff at
Ellsworth High School, Hancock County Technical Center, and for the Ellsworth Adult Education program.

The current plan is to return to the hybrid instructional schedule on Thursday, December 17, 2020. A communication confirming a return to the hybrid instructional model will be sent Wednesday.
