The Red Sox struggles at Fenway Park continued Thursday as Boston got swept in a day night double-header by the Tampa Bay Rays.After losing the first game 2-1, a game in which the Sox left 11 men on base, things were looking better in the night cap. The Sox took the lead with a five run fifth inning to take a 5-2 lead. Tampa however would score the next four runs to win the game 6-5.

James Loney tied the game in the top of the 8th inning with an rbi single off Junichi Tazawa. In the top of the 9th, Yunel Escobar homered over the green monster off Koji Uehara to provide the winning run and give Uehara his first loss of the season.

Boston again struggled to drive in runs, leaving 10 men on base and going 3 for 12 with runners in scoring position.

The Sox now open a weekend series against the AL West leading Oakland A's.
