Tropical Storm Warning for Coastal Hancock and Washington Counties
While much of Eastern and Northern Maine are under Tropical Storm Watches, Coastal Hancock and Washington Counties are under a Tropical Storm Warning according to the National Weather Service in Caribou on Tuesday morning, August 4th.
At 5:50 a.m. Hurricane Isaias was 740 miles southwest of Bar Harbor with winds at 70 miles per hour. The storm was moving north-northeast at 28 miles per hour. The Tropical Storm (by the time it arrives in Maine) will impact Northern and Eastern Maine later Tuesday night into Wednesday morning
Tonight we can expect winds 25-35 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour and rainfall around a half inch for Downeast Maine.
The Coastal Forecast for waters from Schoodic to Stonington out 25 nautical miles calls for Southeasterly winds 10 to 15 knots this afternoon and evening becoming Southerly 25 to 35 knots after midnight with gusts up to 45 knots. Seas around 5 feet building to 7 feet after midnight.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, we can expect Southerly winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts up to 30 knots, seas 7 to 8 feet.
