Trenton Woman Dies after Being Struck by a Car in Bar Harbor
A 27-year-old woman died after being struck by a car in Bar Harbor Thursday morning.
Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Police say the accident happened just before 6 a.m. Thursday on lower Main Street, also known as Route 3.
McKenna Unobskey was in a crosswalk when she was struck by a Jeep traveling south, driven by 63-year-old Russell Clark of Bar Harbor.
Clark was alone in the vehicle and was transported by ambulance to the Mount Desert Island Hospital. His vehicle was towed as part of the investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. When police and rescue units arrived, just minutes after the crash happened, they found that Unobskey had died from her injuries.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Bar Harbor Fire Department, Maine State Police, Acadia National Park Rangers, and members of the Jackson Laboratory.
This accident remains under investigation.
