The National Weather Service and Hancock County Emergency Operations Center issued a briefing Thursday afternoon regarding the expected storm to impact our area on Sunday, January 20th.

A winter storm watch is in effect for late Saturday night through Monday morning, January 19th - 21st

Bar Harbor is expected to receive 18 inches of snow and Machias 16 inches

Precipitation is expected to begin at 2AM on Sunday, January 20th

In addition to the snowfall, there exists the possibility of 2 inches of sleet in Bar Harbor, and 3 inches in Machias

Wind Gusts up to 39 miles per hour combined with the sleet forecast can increase the possibility of power outages

Winds Chills are expected to be Minus 8 in Bar Harbor
