Route 9 in Amherst Closed Due to Accident [UPDATE]

Police say Route 9 in Amherst is back open after a single-car crash closed it for much of the afternoon. The driver was injured in the accident.

State Police say 44-year-old Victor Bassett of Greenbush lost control of his car at around 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon and struck a utility pole. The impact caused power lines to fall into the road so Route 9 had to remain closed for much of the afternoon.

Bassett had minor injuries and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical center. 3 passengers were not hurt. Police say no charges will be filed.
