Route 3 Repairs For Slippery Roads – Update Friday November 2nd
Here's the latest update from the Maine Department of Transportation regarding the "slippery conditions" on the newly surfaced Bar Harbor Route 3 roadway from Mainely Meats to Hulls Cove.
MaineDOT will have their contractor "micro-mill" the surface of this section of Route 3 on Friday morning, November 2nd. A milling machine, with fine cutting teeth, will be used to roughen the surface of the pavement to increase the skid resistance. This work will proceed unless we experience heavy rain.
If weather prevents the work from being performed, MaineDOT will continue to monitor the situation and apply sand as needed. An attempt to apply a course grit to the surface was unsuccessful Wednesday due to cool temperatures.
