The National Park Service announced on Tuesday, August 1st that they will reopen the Precipice, Valley Cove and Jordan Cliffs and associated trails in Acadia National Park on Thursday, August 3rd. These areas had been closed since March 17th to protect the peregrine falcons during the nesting period.

This year, 5 falcon chicks fledged, compared to 11 in 2016.  The closure of cliffs and associated trails during the nesting season has proven to be succesful with over 125 chicks fledging from cliffs in Acadia National Park over the last 20 years.
