Citing a lack of pilots and mechanics that have already been hired by other carriers, Penn Air has informed the FAA that it will cease their Bar Harbor to Boston routes effective June 1st. At the same time, they are also stopping their Presque Isle to Boston route.

In a press release  CEO Danny Seybert said “We have remained committed to these communities. Our intentions have been to remain until replacement carriers began service. To accomplish this we agreed to pay retention incentives to mechanics and pilots to remain with the company.”

Silver Airways is taking over for Penn Air flying from Bar Harbor to Boston seasonally, beginning July 1st. Cape Air also flies from Bar Harbor to Boston year round.

Passengers with tickets on Penn Air should contact the airline for a refund.
