Richard Norwood was spotlighted by WLBZ Channel 2. He's driven the MDI Boy's Basketball Team for 46 years. The love between Richard and the Team and the Team and Richard is palpable.

I have had the privilege of traveling with the team for the last 11 years. Every time this year's team leaves the bus, every player touches Richard on the shoulder and thanks him for the ride. Richard has a word for every player. Richard even drove us up to Presque Isle and Caribou for the overnight weekend.

Richard retired last year but has kept driving the Team. He was the Facilities Manager at the Pemetic School. He was so loved there they had Richard Norwood Day!  I had the honor of speaking with him that day

He was also inducted into the MDI High School Hall of Fame in 2013. This was read at Richard's induction

Richard  graduated from Pemetic High School in 1966. He was a four year starter for the Pemetic Indians in basketball from 1962 through 1966. Richard was selected captain his junior and senior years and was selected to the All Tourney Team during his senior year for the Class M Basketball Tournament.
