MDI and Ellsworth High Schools are two of a handful of teams that have competed in every Festival of Champions!

This 3.1 mile event begins at 11 AM with a variety of races, and ends with the girl's seeded race at 2 PM and the boy's seeded race at 2:40 PM. The Awards Ceremony is slated for 3:20 PM.

Here's Cross Country Coach Desiree Sirois on the MDI Team

We are in the most challenging training weeks of the season. We continue our hill workouts, though focus has evolved to  include varying paces within the workout. We will continue to develop our lactic threshold with tempo and progression runs, and continue to build the base work long challenging runs which are the foundation of our program.  Additionally, we remain focused on identifying team and individual strengths and weakness so to run the best for yourself and the team.  5k strategies as well as nutrition, stress management, and other running related topics also serve as important training pillars in our program and will continue to be addressed at practices this week.  The team is excited to be entering what we consider to be our "fall racing season" where we start to really push the pace

Best of luck to the MDI, Ellsworth and other Cross Country Teams participating!
