MDI Remains Perfect 63-34

The MDI Boy's Basketball Team remained perfect on the season, defeating OId Town 63-34 at Mackenzie Gymnasium in Old Town on Wednesday night, January 11th.

The Old Town Coyotes jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but MDI then went on a 14-0 run, and never looked back. The Trojans led at the end of the 1st Quarter 22-9. For MDI Mac Shea had 6 points, all in the paint, Andrew Phelps and Graham Good had 4 points each and Gus Reeves, Aaron Snurkowski, Russell Kropff and Devin Parlatore each had 2 points each for the Trojans. For Old Town Ryan Hoogterp had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Jacob Cyr had 2 points and Kyle Berube and Logan Doucette each were 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI increased their lead, and led 36-18 at the end of the 1st Half. Graham Good had 4 points for MDI, Aaron Snurkowski had a 3-pointer, Russell Kropff had 3 points and Gus Reeves had 2 points. For Old Town, Hoogterp had 4 points with a 3-pointer, Logan Doucette had 2 points as did Travis Spell and Kyle Berube was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter the Trojans increased their lead, holding Old Town to just 3 points, coming at the hands of Ryan Hoogterp. Meanwhile MDI scored 13 points to lead 49-21 after the 3rd Quarter. Andrew Phelps and Gus Reeves drained 3-pointers, Aaron Snurkowski, Russell Kropff and Devin Parlatore each had 2 points while Derek Collin was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter, Jacob Cyr scored all of Old Town's 13 points with 2 3-pointers. For MDI Derek Collin had 5 points, Mac Shea had 4 points, James McConomy had 3 points and Colby Lee had 2 points.

MDI was led by Mac Shea with 12 points, while Graham Good had 8 points. Andrew Phelps, Gus Reeves, Aaron Snurkowski and Russell Kropff all had 7 points. MDI was 6-12 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Jacob Cyr with a game high 15 points while Ryan Hoogterp had 12 points. Old Town was 9-12 from the free throw line.

MDI is now a perfect 9-0 halfway through the season. They will play Hermon who are 9-1 on Friday night in Bar Harbor, in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio with the pregame scheduled for 6:45 and tip-off at 7 PM.

Old Town is now 2-7 and plays John Bapst Friday, January 13th at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
