Sumner Girl’s Soccer Ella Colby is the Week 1 Downeast High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Sumner High School Girl's Soccer player Ella Colby who was voted the Week 1 Hammond Lumber-WDEA  AM 1370 High School Athlete of the Week.

This weeks nominees included

• Ella Colby - Sumner Girls Soccer for scoring 2 goals and 1 assist against Searsport.
• Makinley Crowley - Sumner Girls Soccer for scoring 2 goals and 1 assist against Searsport.
• Nick DeBeck - Bucksport Football 19-135 yards rushing and  2 touchdowns against Ellsworth
• Isaac Ellis - MDI Boy's Soccer for scoring 2 goals and 2 assists against Old Town.
• Boris Felix - Ellsworth Football for 19-123 yards rushing and  3 touchdowns against Bucksport
• Kulani Granholm - MDI Girl's Cross Country for finishing 1st in the Ellsworth Invitational Cross Country Race.
• Asa Joyce - MDI Football for his performance at Mt. Ararat with 23 carries 126 yards, 3 touchdowns
• Connor Kedzierski - Bucksport Boy's Cross Country for finishing 2nd in the Ellsworth Invitational Cross Country Race.
• Elias Paulsen - MDI Golf for the low round against Ellsworth
• Coleman Welch  - Ellsworth Golf for the low round against Bucksport

Online voting took place Tuesday- Thursday, September 8th-10th.

You can nominate someone for the Week 2 Hammond Lumber-WDEA Downeast High School Athlete of the Week, for schools in Hancock and Washington County. You can nominate someone for games/matches played during the week September 7-12th. Please send your nominee to Chris Popper including the student's name, high school, sport and why they should be nominated by Sunday, September 13th. Voting will take place Monday-September 14th thru Thursday September 17th at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced on Friday, September 18th.
