MDI JV Green Defeat Ellsworth JV2 35-24 to Advance to Hancock County Finals [STATS/RECAP]
The MDI JV Green Boys Basketball Team defeated the Ellsworth JV2 Team Wednesday afternoon, March 3rd to advance to the Hancock County JV Boy's Basketball Championship on Thursday night, March 4th at Ellsworth High School against the Ellsworth JV Team.
MDI had a slim 6-5 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Alex Yeadon hit a 3-pointer for MDI, Jack Hodgdon had 2 points and Evan Ankrom was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Ellsworth Noah Young had a 3-pointer and Wyatt Bragdon had 2 points.
In the 2nd Quarter both teams scored 6 points and MDI led 12-11 at the end of the 1st Half. For MDI Harley Henderson had 4 points with a 3-pointer and Jack Hodgon had 2 points. For Ellsworth Wyatt Bragdon, Andy Herrick and Craig McDonald each had 2 points.
In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored MDI 12-9 to take a 23-21 lead. Wyatt Bragdon had 8 points for Ellsworth including 2 3-pointers. Cruz Coffin and Isaiah Corson had 2 points each. For MDI Evan Ankrom had 4 points, Harley Henderson a 3-pointer and Joey Wellman-Clouse 2 points.
In the 4th Quarter MDI turned up the defensive intensity, made free throws and Ellsworth went cold as the Trojans outscored the Eagles 14-1 for the win. Evan Ankrom had 4 points, Jack Hodgdon had 3 points, Joey Wellman-Clouse and Jameson Weir each had 2 points while Sam Sinclair was 2-2 from the free throw line and Jacob Shields was 1-2 from the free throw line.
MDI was led by Evan Ankrom with 9 points with Harley Henderson and Jack Hodgdon each having 7 points. The Trojans were 6-17 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth was led by Wyatt Bragdon with 13 points. The Eagles were 1-7 from the free throw line.
