The Mount Desert Islander reports that the MDI School Committee decided to shorten the Christmas vacation for the High School as a result of the recent snowstorms and resulting power outages. Instead of being on vacation, on Monday and Tuesday, December 22nd and 23rd, the high school will now be in session.

MDI High School was closed November 3rd -5th because of snow and power outages. The third missed day will be made up at the end of the year on June 18th .

MDI High School realizes that some families may have made travel arrangements already, and Principal Matt Haney was quoted as saying  "If they (the students) just don't show up, it's an unexcused absence. But it would be perfectly fine for them to call and say "I'm going to Colorado" or something. That's an excused absence."
