MDI High School Moves to 8 Man Football [VIDEO]

Citing lower participation numbers, MDI High School has made the decision to move to 8-man football beginning in the 2020 season.

WDEA's Chris Popper sat down with Athletic Director Bunky Dow on Tuesday to discuss the move. The school committee unanimously approved the move, and in his meeting with the football coaches after the season, all were in favor of the move to 8-man football.

According to Dow, these were the number of Acadia Youth Sports football players this past season.

• 7th and 8th grade - 10 players
• 5th and  6th grade -Not enough players to field a team
• 3rd and 4th grade - 10 players

WDEA will cover the MDI 8-man Football Team, as in the past, broadcasting the home and away games.
