MDI Girls Shock Bapst 48-27

The MDI Girls went to the Cross Insurance Center on Friday night, January 6th and shocked the John Bapst Crusaders, beating them 48-27.

MDI jumped out to a 10-9 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Mariah Hamor had 4 points, Julia Watras had a 3-pointer, Emma Watras had 2 points and Abbe Miller was 1-2 from the free throw line for the Trojans. For John Bapst Gracie Phillippon had 5 points, and Madi Higgins and Crystal Bell had 2 points each.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI increased their lead to 7 points, 23-16. Maya Watras had 7 points with a 3-pointer, Julia Watras had a 3-pointer, Maddy Candage was 2-2 from the free throw line and Abbe Miller was 1-2 from the free throw line for MDI. For the Crusaders, Crystal Bell had 5 points including a 3-pointer, and Madi Higgins had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI increased their lead to 10 points, leading at the end of the Quarter 36-26. Julia Watras and Emma Watras each had 4 points. Alexis Clarito drained a 3-pointer and Mariah Hamor had 2 more points for the Trojans. For John Bapst Crystal Bell had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Caleigh Lebel had 4 points and Tiana Cyr was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter, MDI didn't allow John Bapst until there was just 0.4 seconds in the game when Emilee Soucie went 1-2 from the free throw line. For the Trojans Clarito had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Emma Watras had 3 points and Mariah Hamor and Hannah Chamberlain each had 2 points.

Julia Watras led the Trojans with 10 points, while Emma Watras had 9 points and Mariah Hamor and Alexis Clarito had 8 points each. The Trojans were 11-14 from the free throw line.

For John Bapst, Crystal Bell had a game high 12 points and Gracie Phillippon had 5 points. The Crusaders were 3-10 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 6-2 and will play on Tuesday, January 10th at Old Town against the Coyotes at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

John Bapst is 7-3 and will play at Houlton on Monday, January 9th at 7 PM.
