MDI Girls Run Over WA 70-29

The MDI Girls Basketball Team traveled to East Machias, on Friday, December 20th and came away with a 70-29 over the Washington Academy Raiders.

MDI scored 21 points in the 1st Quarter before Washington Academy got on the scoreboard with a 3-pointer by Lauren Raye. MDI had 6 players in the scorebook in the 1st Quarter led by Hannah Shaw with 13 points. After the 1st Quarter MDI was up 28-3.

In the 2nd Quarter, it was more MDI, as they score 17 points. Molly Carroll and Kelsey Shaw each scored 9 points. Taylor Cushing scored 4 points for the Raiders. At the Half, it was MDI 45 Washington Academy 11.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI scored 18 points, led by Kelsey Shaw scoring 5 points. It was 63-15 after three quarters.

The 4th Quarter saw bench players from both team play most of the quarter, and the final score was MDI 70 Washington Academy 29.

MDI was led by Hannah Shaw with 16 points, and she is now less than 100 points away from the magical 1000 points for her career. Sister, Kesley Shaw had 14 points. Sierra Myrick and Sierra Tapley had 3-pointers for the Trojans. MDI was 10-19 from the free throw line.

Washington Academy was led by Taylor Cushing with 8 points. Whitney Porter had 2 3-pointers and Lauren Raye had 1 3-pointer form Washington Academy.

With the victory, MDI stays perfect on the season, at 5-0. They will play Oceanside in a Christmas Tournament in a exhibition game on Monday, December 23rd. Their next countable games are Friday December 27, and Saturday December 28th when they play host to Caribou and Presque Isle respectively.

Washington Academy falls to 2-3 on the season. Washington Academy was scheduled to play host to Orono on Saturday, December 21, weather permitting.
