MDI Girls Beat MCI 51-34
The MDI Girls Basketball Team used a 16-0 run in the 3rd Quarter to break open a close game and beat the MCI Huskies 51-34 on Saturday afternoon, January 4th in Pittsfield.
MDI jumped out to a 13-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Elena Alderman and Leah Carroll had 4 points each for MDI. Oliva Gray had a 3-pointer and Emily Carter 2 points for MDI. Danielle Dow had 6 points for MCI and Natalie Sites 4 points.
MDI led 23-20 at the end of the 1st Half. Rachelle Swanson had 4 points for MDI while Elena Alderman had 4 points. Leah Carroll had 2 points for the Trojans. For MCI Leah Bussell had 6 points and Natalie Site and Danielle Dow had 2 points each.
In the 3rd Quarter MDI went on the 16-0 run before MCI scored a 3 pointer by Sara Linkletter with 1:30 left in the Quarter. MDI ended up outscoring MCI 18-3. Rachelle Swanson had 6 points with a 3-pointer. Leah Carroll had 5 points with a 3-pointer. Emily Carter and Olivia Gray each had a 3-pointer and Elizabeth Jones was 1-2 from the free throw line.
In the 4th Quarter, Molly Ritter scored her 1st varsity points with 44 second remaining in the game for MDI. Olivia Gray had her 3rd 3-pointer. Elena Alderman and Elizabeth Jones each had 2 points and Rachelle Swanson was 1-2 from the free throw line. For MCI Bussell had 4 points, Linkletter her 2nd 3-pointer of the game and Jillian Frost and Danielle Dow 2 points each.
MDI had 3 players in double figures. Rachelle Swanson and Leah Carroll had 11 points while Elena Alderman had 10 points. MDI was 5-14 from the free throw line.
MCI was led by Danielle Dow and Leah Bussell each of whom had 10 points. The Huskies were 4-11 from the free throw line.
MDI is now 7-2 and will play host to Hermon on Wednesday, January 8th at 7 p.m.
MCI is now 2-6 and will play at Oceanside on Tuesday, January 7th at 6 p.m.
