MDI Girls Advance in “Pod Playoffs” Defeat Washington Academy 54-35 [STATS/RECAP]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team advanced in the "Pod Playoffs" defeating Washington Academy 54-35  to advance to play at Hermon on Friday, March 5th at 6 p.m.

MDI jumped out to a 11-4 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Grace Witham had 4 points for DI while Elena Alderman, Emily Carter, and Leah Carroll each had 2 points while Mollie Gray was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Washington Academy Chloe Dinsmore had a 3-pointer and Raeanah Reynolds was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI increased their lead, outscoring the Raiders 15-9 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 26-13 lead at the Half. Leah Carroll had 9 points for MDI while Mollie Gray had 6 points.  Emma Griffin had 5 points for Washington Academy with a 3-pointer, while Lucy Kelton and Kelci Williams each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Washington Academy 16-14 to increase their lead to 42-27. Leah Carroll and Mollie Gray each had 4 points, while Elena Alderman, Grace Witham and Elizabeth had 2 points from the field and Oliva Gray was 2-2 from the free throw line. For W.A. Chloe Dinsmore, Kelton and Kelci Williams each had 4 points while Reynolds had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Olivia Gray had 4 points for MDI while Molly Ritter, Abbie Farley, Bella Brown and Elizabeth Jones each chipped in 2 points. For the Raiders Reynolds had 4 points while Kelton added 2 points and Isabella Crowley was 2-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Leah Carroll with a game high 15 points while Mollie Gray had 11 points. The Trojans were 4-9 from the free throw line.

Washington Academy was led by Lucy Kelton with 8 points while Chloe Dinsmore and Raeanah Reynolds had 7 points.
