MDI High School Football Coach’s Show – November 11 [VIDEO]

MDI High School Football Coach Mark Shields joined WDEA's Chris Popper for the final MDI High School Football Coach's Show of the season on Veteran's Day, November 11th.

Coach Shields looked back at the season and the loss to the Camden Hills Windjammers in the Northern Maine 8-Man Large School Regional Final on Saturday, November 8th . He also celebrated the members of the MDI Trojans who were selected to the Campbell Conference All-Conference Teams and Assistant Coach Elias Burne who was voted as the Assistant Coach of the Year. Finally he had a long, long, long list of people to thank!

I want to add to the thanks, especially thanking Coach Shields and the MDI and Ellsworth Athletic Directors, Bunky Dow and Josh Frost. The time and effort they make to take care of WDEA and granting us access to press boxes is really appreciated. I'm not sure how many years that we have done the Coach's Show, but it has to be over 10 years. Coach Shields takes time from his prep periods, on holidays (like yesterday) to record these with us. We have evolved the show over the years, mainly because MDI is the only school that does this, and we've seen and heard that opposing coaches watch and listen to these, in the hopes of finding nuggets of information.

I also apologize if we get a little too-inside "humorish". After 19 years of broadcasting MDI Football, 18 years with Coach Shields, it happens.

I also have to thank my wife, Bonnie for everything. We have broadcast MDI Football on WDEA  for 19 years. We couldn't do it without the advertisers and all the listeners who tune in. Thanks again, and Lord willing, we'll be back at MDI Football in August of 2026 for our 20th year.
