The MDI Girl's Soccer team defeated Ellsworth 1-0 in Bar Harbor on Senior Night to close out the regular season.

Opal Curless scored, assisted by Paige Mason with 11:00 remaining in the game, for the lone score. Curless' blast was partially stopped by Ellsworth's goalie Callie Hammer, but she wasn't able to stop it, as the ball went through her hands and into the net.

Ellsworth controlled the tempo of the 1st half, having numerous chances, but the majority of the shots were wide of the goal. MDI had the better chances in the second half.

MDI finished with 18 shots, while Ellsworth had 8 shots. Hannah Shaw was in goal for MDI while Callie Hammer was in goal for Ellsworth. With the victory, MDI finishes the season at 9-4-1, while Ellsworth finishes at 7-6-1.

The following MDI seniors were honored before the game along with their parents: Hannah Shaw, Emma Soucek, Denis Lyakhovich, Shelby O'Neil, Riley Heist and Meghan Catanese.

MDI and Ellsworth are both assured of home playoff games this Friday night, October 25th, in the prelim round. Quarterfinals will take place October 29th, Semifinals on November 2nd, Regional Finals on November 6th and the State Finals on November 9th at Hampden Academy.
