The #3 MDI Trojans beat the #1 Camden Hills Windjammers 26-6 on Saturday afternoon, November 4th, to win their 1st Northern Maine Regional Football Title since 2016.

Camden Hills won the coin toss and elected to defer, giving MDI the ball 1st. MDI was forced to punt. Camden Hills fumbled the punt, and Tyler Lunt recovered, giving MDI the ball at their own 48 yard line. The Trojans marched down the field, and scored on a 1 yard run by Spencer Laurendeau. The 2-point conversion was no-good and MDI led 6-0 with 4 minutes gone in the 1st Quarter.

Camden Hills was forced to punt on their next possession and pinned MDI at their own 1 yard line. But, MDI marched down the field, scoring again, on a 12 yard Laurendeau run. The drive took 3:41. This time MDI was able to convert the 2-point conversion and the Trojans led 14-0.

Camden Hills' next possession was thwarted as Spencer Laurendeau picked off William Haslam's pass.

MDI took over on their own 20 yard, with 1:48 left in the 1st Quarter. MDI was forced to punt, and Camden Hills blocked Laurendeau's punt, taking over at the MDI 9 yard line with 11:53 left to go in the 1st Half.

It didn't take long for the Windjammers to score. Haslam ran the ball in from the 1 yard line for the touchdown. The 2-point conversion was no-good, and MDI led 14-6 with 10:57 left in the 1st Half.

On MDI's next possession they had the ball on the Windjammer's 3 yard line with a 1st and goal and couldn't punch it in. Camden Hills weren't able to take advantage of their defensive stand, having to punt the ball.

At the end of the 1st Half, MDI led 14-6. The Trojans had 126 yards rushing and 92 yards passing for 218 total yards. Camden Hills had 33 total yards, 25 yards rushing and 8 yards passing.

MDI kicked off to start the 2nd Half. Hodari Foster followed his own punt and recovered the muffed return, giving the Trojans the ball on the Windjammer's 11 yard line.

It took just 1:55 for MDI to score, with Laurendeau punching the ball in from the 1 yard line. The 2-point conversion was no-good, and MDI led 20-6 with 10 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter.

MDI would scored 1 more touchdown, with 3:29 left in the game to ice it. Laurendeau scored his 4th rushing touchdown, this time from 5 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no-good making the final 26-6.

MDI picked off Camden Hills twice in the 2nd Half, with Cal Hodgdon intercepting William Haslam twice.

MDI now 9-1, will play the winner of the Brunswick-Greely Southern Maine Regional Final in the State finals on Saturday, November 11th at Cameron Stadium in Bangor. The kickoff is at 2:30.
