MDI Girls Basketball Hands Hermon Their First Loss This Season

The MDI Girl's Basketball Team handed the Hermon Hawks their 1st loss of the season , beating them 39-35 in Bar Harbor on Tuesday, December 16th making 6 of 8 free throws in the 4th Quarter as the Hawks were forced to foul.

Hermon led 6-3 at the end of the 1st Quarter, a combination of swarming defense on both sides, and shooting that was off the mark.

MDI outscored Hermon 12-4 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 15-10 lead at the Half, as Cassidy Dunbar had 4 points in the 2nd Quarter.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Hermon 14-6 as Avery Norwood got untracked, scoring 8 points with a 3-pointer for MDI. The Trojans led 29-16 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

In the 4th Quarter Abbie Bradstreet scored 10 points for Hermon. Lily Ryan had 4 points and Maddie Tracy hit a 3-pointer. Hermon drew within 3 points, but MDI hung on to win thanks to their steady free throws, and Avery Norwood's 2 points.

MDI was led by Avery Norwood with 12 points, including a 3-pointer. Lilli Hanf had 9 points with a 3-pointer. The Trojans were 9-14 from the free throw line and had 20 points in the paint.

Hermon was led by Abbie Bradstreet with 12 points. Rebecca Balmas finished with 10 points. The Hawks were 4-7 from the free throw line and Madilynn Tracy had their lone 3-pointer. They had 20 points in the paint.

MDI improves to 3-1 and will host Brewer on Saturday, December 20th at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and any Alexa enabled device, with the pregame starting at 1:45 p.m.

Hermon is 3-1 and will travel to play Ellsworth on Friday, December 19th at 7 p.m.
