
MDI Baseball Falls 3-2 Friday
The MDI Baseball Team fell to Foxcroft Academy 3-2 on Friday, May 5th in the rain in Bar Harbor. The Ponies led 1-0 at the end of the 3rd inning and it was 2-0 in the 6th before MDI scored in the bottom of the 6th inning to make it 2-1. Foxcroft Academy pushed across another run in the top of the 7th inning to make it 3-1. The Trojans battled back to plate another in the bottom of the inning but came up short 3-2.
Matt Perconti pitched 6.2 innings for the Trojans. He struck out 12 and walked 2, while allowing just 2 hits and 3 runs, 2 of which were earned. Riley Swanson pitched the final third of an inning, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.
For MDI Nick Stanley had 3 singles and Alden Fournier had a double. Jacob Mitchell, Drew Shea and Stanley Grierson each had a single.
For Foxcroft Academy Levi Stedman had a double and Ryan Veinneau and Matthew Spooner each had a single.
MDI is now 2-3 and are scheduled to take on the Old Town Coyotes on Tuesday, May 9th in a doubleheader with start times at 3 PM and 5 PM
Foxcroft Academy is now 5-2 and is scheduled to play the Ellsworth Eagles in Dover-Foxcroft on Wednesday, May 10th at 4:30 PM.
