MDI Baseball Defeats Bucksport 2-0

The MDI Trojans started off the 2013 baseball season with a victory, defeating the  Bucksport Golden Bucks in Bucksport 2-0.

Senior, Ben Walls pitched a complete game for the Trojans, giving up 4 hits, striking out 7 Golden Bucks and allowing 3 walks, and is now 1-0 on the season.

Jon Phelps went 2-4 from the plate, knocking in both runs for the Trojans with two singles. Tom Paola, Ben Walls and Steven Hanscom all had a hit for MDI.

MDI took a lead 1-0 in the top of the third inning. Ryan Littlefield reached first  after the Bucksport catcher was not able to catch the ball on a strikeout and  then scored on Jon Phelps' single.

MDI scored an insurance run in the 5th. inning.  Dylan Carroll started things off with a leadoff walk, and advanced to 2nd base on a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Littlefield. Dylan Carroll scored on Jon Phelps second single of the game.

MDI's next game is Saturday, when they are scheduled to host Presque Isle(1-1) in a doubleheader with games at 12 noon and 2:30 .
