Machiasport Teen on Motorized Bike Dies in Collision with Car
Police say fog played a role in a motorized bicycle-vehicle crash that took the life of a 15-year-old boy.
Garrett Sprague was deceased when Washington County Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the scene on Port Road, just after 7:00 Wednesday evening. Officials say the motorized bicycle that Sprague was riding collided head-on with a Buick LaCrosse, driven by 20-year-old Caleb Norton of Machiasport. State Troopers, who assisted at the scene, learned that the motorized bicycle was in the on-coming lane, for unknown reasons, at the time of the crash.
The investigation into this accident is ongoing, but police say poor visibility was a factor, as there was thick fog in the area.
Assisting at the scene were the Machiasport Fire Department and Machias Ambulance.
